LINES OF GENERATION AND / OR APPLICATION OF KNOWLEDGE IN THE PROGRAM

Environmental biotechnology. Studies on the use of enzymes and microorganisms for the bioremediation of contaminated areas, the biotechnological treatment of residues and the development of biofuels. Also, toxicity studies aimed at evaluating the effects of xenobiotics and their degradation products.

Agricultural and livestock biotechnology. It includes the development of strategies related to the control of agricultural and livestock pests from microorganisms and metabolites with biological activities from various sources. Species are used where biological activity has been reported from ethnobiological and / or ecological research. Similarly, the use of model plants for the study of genes with potential in agriculture and the design and production of biofertilizers for various crops.

Biotechnology of Natural Products. Involves the study of bioactive molecules of interest in the health and / or agricultural and livestock fields through a biotechnological development that allows to achieve the increased and homogenous production for its therapeutic, diagnostic and field application; isolate genes or proteins from various organisms for multiple applications (therapeutic, diagnostic, insecticide, etc.) are also identified, using experimental strategies employed in the field of biochemistry, molecular biology and bioengineering.
